Perhaps
the most innovative idea in a large format scanning
since the advent of color scanning, iJET Technology is
truly a revolutionary new feature for Vidar scanners.
For the first time in large format imaging, a host PC is
not required to perform many advanced scanning and
copying functions.
Users
can attach their compatible large format printer
directly to the scanner’s high-speed “USB-OUT”
port to make copies directly from the iJET-equipped
scanner to their printer. If the user prefers, the
compatible printer can remain on their existing LAN and
the scanner can be connected directly to the network
through the iJET ethernet port. This also allows the
scanner to scan directly to any PC on the LAN as well.
If the user requires a host PC for their existing
scanning software, then the scanner can still be
connected and used with compatible software. If
necessary, several of these different configuration
options can be used in combination with others, to
provide a scanning/copying system that fits any
environment imaginable. With the touch of a button,
users can make a copy to an attached supported printer,
make a copy to a supported networked printer or scan to
a network PC, all without an attached host PC.
Simply
put, iJET Technology combines the intelligence of
advanced scanning technology, imaging software, and a
powerful dedicated computer into the familiar sleek
packaging of a large format scanner.
How
does it work?
Inside the scanner is a completely redesigned control
architecture, including a high-speed processor and an
embedded operating system. A pre-loaded, advanced copy
software runs within this environment to provide all of
the user functions for scanning to the network and
copying to a printer. The user controls these functions
through the iJET Panel; an innovative new touchpad
interface with a LCD display that allows the user to
navigate the iJET menus with ease.
Also embedded in the on-board computer, are all of the
options necessary to setup the scanner and software to
operate on the LAN or as a stand-alone copier.
